
Jazmine Sullivan is a native of and lived within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother is a former back-up singer of Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her dad landed a position as a curator at Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historic landmark. In 2005, a Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student She is an instructor in vocal performance. Sullivan sang as a contralto member of the kids' choir. She was later a part of the adult choir. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. The singer recalls she was eleven when someone was requesting her to sing for solos in the church. She wasn't yet ready for. After that, McDonald's held a contest for kids in big cities. I was selected to sing "Accept What God Allows" at it's Showtime at the Apollo. And the people were very enthusiastic. When she was 13 years old, she sang along to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan aged 15 began her career with Jive Records. It was her first time signing with Jive Records at the age 15. She was the producer of an entire album but this album never saw release. Sullivan was ultimately dismissed from the record label. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott, who produced a number of the tracks in her debut album which included the hit single "Backstabbers" that was written and produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
